about us

Welcome to My Charitable Belly, where we share a variety of Taiwanese recipes – sweet, savory, and everything in between. We initially wanted to use this blog to share recipes from our shared Taiwanese heritage. However, as we sifted through our collection of recipes, we realized that we’re a household that loves to explore many different cuisines. This is something that carried over from my mom’s cooking practices since I was young; we would have two days of Taiwanese cooking, and then one day of non-Taiwanese food.

This is a belief that we’ve inherited – that variety is the spice of life. While the focus of this blog will still lean towards Taiwanese recipes, we won’t hold back from sharing good food just because it’s not Taiwanese. Good food should be shared, no matter where the dish comes from. If you share our taste for Taiwanese recipes, chances are you will also enjoy our takes on other cuisines as well.

To carry on my mom’s tradition, we’ll try to maintain the Taiwanese to non-Taiwanese recipes to a ratio of 2:1. Of course, this isn’t a hard and fast rule, so don’t hold us to it!

We’re so happy that you decided to stop today. We hope you’ll find our site useful and that our cooking travels will intersect often!

Happy cooking for your charitable bellies at home!
